MEET YOUR HOST : EMPATH ART
Throughout my life, I have been accused of being too sensitive and too emotional. I've been told “let's talk about something more positive” or had someone change the subject when I bring up a social justice issue. However, to me ignoring these issues, repressing my feelings, or telling others their feelings are not valid is not an option. I want people to understand that emotions are not a weakness and how easy it can be to take direct action in our communities.

SELF CARE SUNDAYS: ART JOURNALING

Every last Sunday of the month join an art therapist for intentional workshops that focus on the nervous system, mindfulness, and creative coping skills.

Art Journaling: Explore a visual self care practice of nurturing a space of expression and exploration within a journal. Art journaling can be a way to explore our emotions, our imagination, keep track of goals, or just spend time being playful with art. There are no rules!

How does it work?

1. Use provided art materials to create a background.

2. Select a prompt, theme, or quote. Some people spend a little time free writing in response to the theme, others work purely visually!

3. Add colors, images, patterns, or other materials.

4. Experiment! Make as many pages as you'd like.

SELF CARE SUNDAYS: NEW MOON SPLATTER PAINT

Every last Sunday of the month join art therapist Sarah for intentional workshops that focus on the nervous system, mindfulness, and creative coping skills.

Splatterpaint : New Moon Joy and Abundance: focusing on growing, creating, gratitude, and MORE. So we'll be writing things we WANT in our lives rather than what we are letting go of, and focusing on that theme throughout the process.

Participants would warm up with movement and breathwork in the garden.

Attendees are encouraged and guided to write various words on their canvas of things that they are releasing or letting go of. Time provided to free write or brain dump with purposeful prompting.

Then as a curated playlist inspires and encourages full body expression while Sarah demonstrates a few types of painting. Participants can start by painting a background color over their words, use splatter techniques, drip techniques, and tying their painting together at the end using spray bottles and/or stencils

Because such fluid materials can leave us feeling really ungrounded, we end with a body scan and grounding breath so that folks leave feeling regulated and grounded after such a purposeful release.

✨No art experience needed, all are welcome.
