👖 Pants Party! Design and Sew your own Pants 👖

About the class:
In this three-session workshop, you'll design and sew a pair of wide-leg pants from scratch, beginning with a blank canvas and ending with something that's entirely, unmistakably yours.

Along the way, we'll cover pattern reading and sizing, how to alter a pattern to actually fit your body, zipper installation, buttonhole sewing, and professional seam finishing techniques. Real skills. The kind you keep.

Prerequisites:
This class is designed for makers who are comfortable on a sewing machine. Completion of our Level 1 Sewing class is ideal, though anyone who can work independently on a machine is welcome. Sewing machines are available to borrow, but we encourage you to bring your own if you have one.

What’s included:
- Drop cloth fabric + black and white thread
- Sewing pattern and step-by-step instructions
-Zipper and button
-Stenciling supplies (masking tape, cardboard) to help you design your fabric

What to bring:
-2 cans of spray paint in the color(s) that speak to you
-Design ideas for your pants (sketches, reference images,a pinboard, whatever gets you inspired)
-Colored thread, if you want to go beyond black or white

Day 1 : Design & Painting (Aug 16)
Wear something you don't mind getting paint on.

We open with design. You'll develop your vision for the fabric, thinking through pattern scale, layout, and technique, then bring it to life with spray paint. No two pairs of pants will look the same. That's the point.

Day 2 : Pattern & Construction (Aug 23)
Dress comfy. Bring a snack.

We get into the build. You'll read through the pattern, select your size, and assemble the printed pieces, learning what every marking and symbol actually means along the way. Then we'll lay the pattern onto your painted fabric, cut everything out, and start sewing the pants together. We'll also talk through seam finishing options, including sergers, so your work looks as good on the inside as it does on the outside.

Day 3 : Finishing Touches (Aug 30)
Wear close fitting clothing like bike shorts or leggings. You'll be trying these on. Bathrooms are available.

This is the session where it all comes together. We'll install the zipper and waistband, sew the buttonhole, and attach the button, walking through each step together before you apply it to your own garment. We'll close by hemming your pants, trying them on, and showing off what we made. Because what's the point of making something great if you don't get to celebrate it?

đŸ„š Snacks and beverages available for purchase, but you can always BYOB!
